Importance of Employee Evaluations.

Nowadays employees are not just expecting monthly salary from the organization. Through the job, employees are expecting personal and professional carrier growth. If employee does not have proper clear carrier path in the organization, then employee is looking for opportunities from different organizations.

Employee evaluation is, Organization is giving feedback to employee considering their performance. Evaluation is needed to conduct considering Operation goals as well as values and competency (Williams, 2021).

Importance of Evaluations (Dannert, 2019)

Evaluation is regular coaching and two-way communication between employee and manager. During the evaluation, ideas are exchanging, bottle necks are highlighting, etc. Then this is highly effective for steady drive to the organization. Apart from that, below mention another benefit of Evaluations.
  1. Able to identify political incidents (Dannert, 2019).
  2. Employees are able to get feedback in timely manner with actionable (Dannert, 2019)
  3. Both employee and manager able to know about where they now (Dannert, 2019).
  4. Able to identify opportunities for development (Dannert, 2019).
  5. Identify skill gap to fill immediately (Dannert, 2019).

How to prepare for productive evaluation discussion.

Communicate mission, values, and goals (Dannert, 2019).

No point to conduct evaluation discussion without knowing organization mission, values, and goals. Firstly, needs to communicate organization mission, values, and goals properly top to bottom. Then employees are aware on organization expectation of their role.

Regular one on one discussion (Dannert, 2019).

Managers supposed to have one on one discussions weekly basis. Then concerns are able to identify then and there and able to find options.

Managers should act like coaches (Dannert, 2019).

Manager has to play big role in employee evaluation process. Manager should be coach to employee. Need to guide employee to their progress to meet the Organization expectations. Need to encourage and motivate the employee to continue their work productively.

360 degrees feedback (Dannert, 2019).

There should be proper way to communicate feedback in evaluation process. Feedback should be discussed in 360 degrees to get exact meaning. The employee can understand the organization expectations. Then employee is able to make changes to get more results.

Discuss employee development plan (Dannert, 2019)

Employees are not expecting just compensation. They need a growth. Then there should be development plan for each employee. That will give meaning and purpose for their work. Manager needs to discuss development plan with employee and these personal goals are needed to align with Organizational goals.

With busy life, this forum would be the place that having discussion for structed feedback. Positive feedbacks are increased the employee morale and increase relationship with management. This is minimizing the employee turnover.

Management is able to compare evaluation feedback and recruitment sheet data. Considering evaluation, able to change recruiting process and method to find correct person. If employees are having undeveloped area, able to add additional screen methods to improve hiring process.

This is good opportunity to discuss salary, career goals and development plan. Then able to develop growth plan that expand employee skill and benefits to the Organization.
  • Top management visibility (Williams, 2021)
Unable to get accessibility of top management in day-to-day work. This discussion is helped to insight of top management. Then able to plan for promotions as well.
  • Potential salary increments and bonus (Williams, 2021)
This is the forum that able to discuss about the salary increments considering evaluation rating. Further able to discuss bonus eligibility as well in logically referring employee evaluation and organization finance figures.
