HRM has to make sure that employees are living with balance life. Work life balance meaning is on the job time and private time are arranged in optimal way with healthy, personal satisfaction, professional success without negative impact for productivity (Wigmore, 2014). Current situation in Sri Lanka, employees are living with high pressure because essential household items are not in the market to get easily, and prices are increasing daily. Daily electricity cut, fuel queue, gas queue, etc. Average has to stay in one queue more than 2 hours per item. With this situation, HRM has to more focus to provide solutions to save time for personal matters. Then employees are able to focus their job freely.
Utility bill Payment arrangements
Providing bank facilities
Able to utilize one of the clerks for this facility. Particular day in the week, this clerk will do the banking on behalf of employees. Employees are needed to provide relevant details to the clerk and clerk will go to bank. Then only one employee will spend the time for entire staff.
Grocery Shopping
This is the most time consuming and challenging event. If HRM can contact good retail shop that able to cover day to day essential grocery item, then this is able to initiate with below two options.
- Set-up a stall in office premises
Then employees are able to the grocery shopping in office hours and that able to complete quickly. Further to save time, employee can provide requirement list morning hours and able to collect it evening.
- Delivering to office premises
Employees are needed to provide list before 10am and member of grocery shop, will come to collect the list morning hours. Then able to deliver goods in the evening.
Apart from the time, HRM is able to negotiate better prices as well. It is because volume of the grocery items is high, and Organization is having high bargaining power.
Conclusion
Need to pay attention for employees after office life where Organization can make the influence. This influence is reverted to organization as a result of high productivity. Employees are always giving high priority to their family and un-balance family life will making chaos in employees mind. Unfocused mind never delivers good results.
